Asthmatic children with low blood vitamin D levels may have a greater risk of suffering severe asthma attacks.

A study followed more than 1,000 children with asthma for four years, and found those with vitamin-D insufficiency at the outset were more likely to have an asthma attack that required a trip to the hospital. Read More on Dr. Mecola's website regarding a new study regarding Asthma and Vitamin D. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/07/13/insufficient-vitamin-d-tied-to-severe-asthma-attacks.aspx

Penny,
Thanks for the question. The short answer to your question is that we need all vitamins every day. The more complicated and complex answer is that some of them can come from food and some from supplements. This is a subject that will take years to explore, but I will attempt to discuss some of the issues in future posts.

As far as eating the proper amount of servings(5) of fruits and vegetables, these are the questions I would ask. Are the fruits and vegetables grown organically? Do you really eat 5 servings per day, every day? What other foods do you eat that may be interfering with your absorption and utilization of these foods. Do you have a dis-ease or some other condition that you are trying to correct?

So, again, the simple answer is Yes, we should get enough vitamins from the proper amount of servings, but it is more complicated than just that!

No, I would NOT rely on a multivitamin to meet your daily needs. Several things need to be considered again, as per above.

We will be covering certain conditions in future posts and my recommendations for these.

What other vitamins should we have each day?

Will eating the proper amount of servings of fruit and

Dear Healthy One,
Children respond better than adults do to chiropractic adjustments. They adjust easier and hold their adjustments much longer than adults. They don't have the "tight muscles", and/or the "tissue memories" that us older folks have.

The other great thing is that most of them respond instantly by feeling and functioning better.

Chiropractic care for your children is vital to their health and is an absolute necessity to their development and for actualization of their full potential in every area of life.

Dear Billie,

What a great question. Numbness and tingling anywhere in the body usually means that a nerve and/or a blood vessel is being "pinched". Considering your history of an auto accident, it could very well be that the nerves in your neck are being compromised. Sometimes after an accident it leaves the area vulnerable to future injuries.

You should have your chiropractor check it out for you, your chiropractor might have to take an x-ray to see if there has been any progression of damage from your previous injury.

Meanwhile, I would Ice the neck area just above the shoulder for 15 Minutes, then take the ice off for 15 minutes, then put it back on for 15 minutes, then let it come back to normal temperature for approximately 1 hour. If the tingling reoccurs then repeat the Ice sequence.

Thanks for your question

I have had numbness and tingling in my hands and fingers for the past few months. I thought I had recovered from the whiplash that I suffered as a result of a car accident a year ago. Do you think the two are related? And what treatment will help me?
Thanks for your help!

I especially like the Arnica Flower Herbal Liniment and the
Calendula Flower Herbal Oil. Our son finds that the Calendula Oil
is especially helpful in healing his dry hands and helping to heal
cuts he gets during his day on the farm. Of course, he uses
the Liniment to aid those sore muscles. We are both confirmed
belivers of these products.
