Warm Weather has a tendency to bring on "Spring
Fever"
As we can see spring in the near future, we are all anxious
to get prepared for the things that we do in spring; planting
the garden, exercising more, taking better care of ourselves,
cleaning the house, you know the routine.
During the winter months our bodies tend to become sluggish.
Here are some tips on how to prepare your body for spring:
- " Cold and damp weather can be hard on the kidney and
adrenals so keep them warm and supported with warming
adrenal teas.
- Most adrenal teas contain adaptogens which increase
the body's resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety and fatigue.
- Adaptogens can also be called rejuvenating herbs, qi
tonics, or restoratives. One specific
characteristic of their action is that their effect is believed
to help the body return to a balanced state.
- " We can also start, in a very gentle way, to prepare
our bodies for the spring cleaning by doing a colon cleanse now,
using psyllium seeds.
- Psyllium seeds are a bulking agent that absorbs water
and gently increases the size of the bolus traveling through
the colon. This action will allow the psyllium seeds to gently
"sweep" the colon of toxins and other build-up along
the colon walls. It can be helpful in removing heavy metals,
excess fat deposits, and even reducing "bad" cholesterol.
- If you have never used psyllium seeds before, I would
suggest that you start slowly, by using only 1 teaspoon per
day in a glass of juice and slowly building up to 1 tablespoon
per day for approximately 1 week. If you have used them before,
then start with 1 tablespoon per day for a couple of days
and then increase to 2 tablespoons per day for approximately
1 week.
- Make sure that you drink extra water during this time
because the psyllium seeds will absorb the water from your
body and dry you out.
After this colon cleanse, your body will be ready in
the spring for the bi-annual
Liver Cleanse, which we will discuss next month.
